Where's everyone looking for college?

Post by paleftw on Mon Apr 28, 2008 11:27 am

I've already visited a few in my search for somewhere good and in-state.

Mary Washington University- nice, private. About 45 minutes away. The campus is kind of oval shaped and really long, so the long long walk from the north end to the south was annoying. The kids, from the look of em, were alright. Nothing too special about this college.

Longwood University- Funny name. The campus was pretty, with a lot of trees and nice buildings. Major greek life, for those who are into that. Not my personal preference. Major secret society, which kinda sketched me out. Preppy kids. About 50 minutes away.

Bridgewater College - Really pretty, up near JMU. About 5 min from JMU, "dry" campus(no drinking). Small school, private. Old, cozy buildings with small class sizes and a good teacher/student ratio.

Randolf-Macon College - about 15-20 minutes away, smaller than Freeman in terms of number of kids. Really, really good cafeteria food. Really good overall. Pretty campus and close by with nice dorms.

VCU - about 15-20 minutes away, city school. Probably my top pick. Gigantic number of kids, but duh, it's VCU. I really like the city feel. The dorms are pretty awesome, with guarenteed housing for Freshmen and I think Sophomores. They have a Pancake Eating Club that the school supports, which made me laugh. Amazing arts program.

Opinions?

I have a couple ideas of where i would like to go.

Meredith college - it's in north carolina and its a private college (that's the bad part). I want to major in the dance program there.

VCU - public, too trafficy for me. don't really like it, but it's close to home. I only want to go there for the dance program.

GMU (george maison) - love it. it's public and close to Washington, DC. i really want to go there. 4 dance rooms! YES! and it's actually in a small town and spaced out. YO - YO MA GRADUATED FROM THERE TOO!

JMU - i like the campus. it doesn't have a major in dance (I don't think), but it has a major in physical therapy (something like that)

Ferrum College - public, close to home. i haven't visited the campus, but the dance is major.

and there was a couple colleges in tennessee, california and texas i wanted to check out.

ummm....those are all i can think about right now. But with my grade point average i'd take any college that wants me.
